ATAS-GH, a critical partner in regulating tourist sites - GTA CEO

Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, the Chief Executive Officer of the (GTA), emphasized the crucial role of the Association of Tourist Attractions and Sites Ghana (ATAS-GH) in advancing tourism in Ghana during the association's inauguration ceremony. Held at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the event signaled a significant step towards promoting, regulating, and enhancing the tourism experience in the country.

ATAS-GH, mandated by law to advocate for sustainable tourism development, will play a pivotal role in promoting Ghana's rich cultural heritage, national beauty, and historical landmarks through collaboration and partnerships. Mr. Agyeman underscored the importance of ATAS-GH as a partner in regulating the tourism industry responsibly, particularly in light of recent regulatory initiatives.

Highlighting the need for stakeholder partnerships, Mr. Agyeman stressed the importance of community involvement in site management and expressed confidence in ATAS-GH's ability to facilitate such collaborations. He urged the association's executives to leverage their skills to promote tourism initiatives and unite site managers toward common objectives.

In his remarks, Mr. Sampson Donkoh, Executive Director of ATAS-GH, affirmed the association's commitment to driving positive change and contributing to Ghana's tourism development agenda. He outlined ATAS-GH's objectives, including serving as a catalyst for tourism growth, fostering stakeholder collaboration, and contributing to economic prosperity through sustainable tourism practices.

The launch event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Ambassador of Suriname to Ghana, Madam Fidelia Graand-Galon, GTA Board Chairman Seth Agyei Baah, and Vice President of the Ghana Tourism Federation, Mr. Kweku Passah. Also present were Deputy Chairman of ATAS-GH, Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, and members of various tourism trade associations, highlighting the broad support for ATAS-GH's mission.
