MTN Ghana has launched the 2024 Mobile Money (MoMo) Month Celebrations, reaffirming its commitment to invest in robust security measures to combat fraud and protect its valued customers. The launch, which took place in Tamale, marked the start of a three-month celebration themed “Empowering Communities – Celebrating 15 Years of Progressive Financial and Digital Inclusion.”

Nii Adotey Mingle, Northern Sector General Manager of MTN, emphasized the company’s dedication to tackling MoMo fraud, describing it as a significant challenge in promoting digital and financial inclusion in the country. “Fraud remains one of the prevalent issues that continues to hinder our work,” he said. “We will continue to work with all stakeholders through sensitization and awareness initiatives and will invest in robust security measures to protect our valued customers.”

Mingle also stressed the importance of customer vigilance, urging users to safeguard their PINs and avoid engaging with unsolicited links, fake SMS messages, or random callers. “Every customer is the first and last line of defense,” he added.

As part of the celebrations, which also mark MoMo’s 15th anniversary in Ghana, MTN Ghana has planned a series of activities, including street floats, new service launches, customer promotions, MoMo fraud awareness campaigns, skills training for SMEs, and an awards night to honor stakeholders.

Reflecting on the 15-year journey, Mingle expressed gratitude to customers, partners, and stakeholders for their trust and support, which he credited as key to MoMo’s success. “We will keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible, exploring modern technologies, and creating solutions that meet the changing needs of our valued customers and Ghanaians,” he stated.

In addition, Abdul-Razak Ali, Chief Commercial Officer at MTN MoMo, encouraged customers to download the new MoMo App (MyMoMo App) to access customer promotions, promising continued efforts towards financial inclusion to improve lives across the country.
