SSNIT resists pressure for hasty decisions on underperforming hotels

Mr. Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo, the Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (), has affirmed that the Trust will not succumb to pressure for hasty decisions regarding its underperforming hotels. Instead, SSNIT is actively exploring various strategies to optimize the performance of these assets, integrating stakeholder feedback to chart the best path forward.

Speaking at the opening of this year’s Operations and Benefits Conference in Elmina, Mr. Osafo-Maafo emphasized the critical role of technology in enhancing SSNIT’s service delivery. The three-day conference, themed “Sustaining the SSNIT Scheme through Increased Active Membership and Adequate Contribution Collections Using Appropriate Technology,” aims to address the challenges posed by evolving global dynamics and technological advancements in service delivery.

Mr. Osafo-Maafo highlighted the need for innovation and alignment with global trends in pension scheme management. He advocated for the integration of digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and data analytics to improve member and client experiences and streamline processes to optimize investment decisions.

He also announced the upcoming launch of the “SSNIT Digital Bouquet,” which includes a new website, an upgraded USSD platform, and the highly anticipated SSNIT Mobile App. These digital platforms are designed to facilitate convenient transactions for members and clients through their mobile devices, with the goal of boosting active membership and ensuring regular contributions.

In the quest to sustain the Scheme, Mr. Osafo-Maafo stressed the importance of strategic leadership and a workforce adept at adapting to innovative measures. He assured that SSNIT would continue to motivate its staff to uphold the Scheme and encouraged employees to actively contribute to the organization’s progress.

Ms. Juliana Kpedekpo, the Deputy Director-General overseeing Operations and Benefits, also spoke at the conference, highlighting the transformative impact of technological advancements on social security. She emphasized that technology would enhance operational visibility, provide real-time updates to members and clients, ensure transparency in Trust operations, deliver world-class service, and foster trust among stakeholders.
